Protecting Teeth With Sealants
A sealant is a plastic material that is applied to the chewing surfaces of the back teeth - premolars and molars. It forms a barrier that protects teeth from plaque and acid attacks to help prevent decay. It takes only a few minutes to seal each tooth. Sealants hold up well under the force of normal chewing and usually last several years before a reapplication is needed. During your regular dental visits, the condition of the sealant is checked and reapplications are done when necessary.
